Terms of Service

Turkey Finder · turkeyfinder.com · Version 0.9 (interim) · Effective October 15, 2026

These Terms follow the one template shared by every Finder app from Northwoods Investment LLC, so the attorney reviews them once. Sections 1 to 12 are the shared text; Section 13 is specific to Turkey Finder. They are interim documents for the free-account launch, written without an attorney, and will be replaced by the attorney's final text. App acceptance version: 2026-10-19.

The short version. Reads habitat and terrain only, not whether turkeys are there today. Turkey Finder checks a map against set criteria and shares waypoints where tall roost timber meets open ground (hay fields, pasture, crop fields, grassy openings), and, in fall, mast woods. A spot is not permission to hunt, enter or cross any land. We never tell anyone to hunt or go anywhere, and you're responsible for the laws, seasons and land rules wherever you go. Full refund within 7 days of your first payment on a monthly plan, or 30 days on a yearly plan. Tap Refund in the app's Account panel; no email needed. Once per customer per app.

These Terms are an agreement between you and Northwoods Investment LLC, a New Hampshire company ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using Turkey Finder ("the app"), you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

1. What the app does, and doesn't do

Turkey Finder reads public map data about habitat and terrain in New Hampshire, Vermont and New York and ranks places near an address you enter, with the reasons for each. Reads habitat and terrain only, not whether turkeys are there today. It does not detect animals, and nothing in the app is a promise of game or a harvest.

The maps come from public data that can be out of date or wrong. Land cover, boundaries, roads, parking and building locations may have changed. Treat every spot, route and distance as a starting point to check yourself.

2. Land, permission and the law

3. Your account

4. Plans, billing, renewal and refunds

The app is free to use today with a free account. Paid plans are not open yet. When they open, these rules apply:

5. Your content

Pins, tracks, waypoints and notes you create stay yours. They are stored on your phone unless you turn on backup. If you turn on backup or choose to share pins to help test the maps, you give us permission to store and use them only for those purposes, as described in the Privacy Policy.

6. Acceptable use

Don't misuse the app. That includes copying or reselling its maps or results, scraping it, trying to break its security, sharing your account, or using it to harass or trespass on anyone.

7. No warranties

The app is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including that the app is accurate, complete, error-free, always available, or fit for any particular purpose.

8. Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Northwoods Investment LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any injury, loss, fine or penalty arising from where you go or what you do based on the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 if you paid nothing. Some states don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

9. Indemnity

If your use of the app, or your breaking these Terms or any law, leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim, including legal fees.

10. Changes and ending

We may update these Terms. We'll show the new version in the app and ask you to accept it before your next search. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms. You may stop using the app at any time.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Hampshire. Any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts located in New Hampshire, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.

13. Turkey Finder section

Not a guide to where to go. We never tell anyone to hunt or go anywhere. Turkey Finder is for anyone who wants a chance to see wild turkeys, whether they hunt, watch or photograph them; a sighting doesn't have to end in a harvest. A route or a parking lot shown in the app is a way in over ground listed as public, not permission to hunt there. Some land allows walking or watching where it doesn't allow hunting: check each property's rules.

Your responsibility. When you create an account you tick a box accepting this: "I accept responsibility for proper use of this app, for my own actions, for learning and following the laws, seasons and land rules wherever I go, and for identifying any animal before taking it." We record the date and the version of these Terms in force when you accept. Accounts that accepted an earlier wording are asked to accept this one once, at their next sign-in, before they can search.

What it reads. Reads habitat and terrain only, not whether turkeys are there today. Turkey Finder reads likely roost timber (tall woods, softwood or mixed, often on sheltered slopes or near water), open ground (hay fields, pasture, crop fields and grassy openings), mast woods (oak, and northern hardwoods that can include beech), wind shelter from the shape of the land, and the distance to the nearest building. It builds these from public data: the National Land Cover Database 2021 (MRLC), LANDFIRE 2024 vegetation type and height (USGS/USFS), USGS elevation (3DEP) and water (National Hydrography Dataset), FEMA USA Structures, and public-land sources (state lists, USGS PAD-US). It does not detect, count or track birds. Whether turkeys use a spot depends on things the app cannot see, including how many birds live in the area, food that year, nesting success, weather and hunting pressure. We make no promise that you will see, hear or take a turkey at any spot.

Two rankings and one score. The all-ground ranking scores all land. The public-land ranking scores only what lies inside listed public land (a short distance in from its mapped edge), counts smaller openings, including brushy openings, and gives reduced weight to mast woods with no opening nearby. Every spot carries one 0–100 habitat score on the same scale; public-land spots can score lower than farm-field spots because they are ranked only on what is inside the public boundary. A score describes habitat and terrain, not whether turkeys are there. Where a public-land spot's nearest opening lies outside the listed public land, the spot says so; the app never shows a route onto that opening.

Spring and fall. The "Spring (gobblers)" and "Fall" labels describe how turkeys use habitat in general (roost timber near open ground in spring; mast woods and field edges in fall), not where this year's birds are.

Seasons and bag limits are not in the app. Turkey seasons, bag limits, legal hours, permits and unit boundaries change every year and by unit. The app does not state them; it links to New Hampshire Fish and Game, Vermont Fish and Wildlife and New York State DEC, and shows the date those links were last checked. The state's own laws and regulations control.

No bird-sighting data. Turkey Finder does not use eBird or any other bird-sighting data.

Safety zones by state. One state's rule never applies in another; each spot shows the rule for its own state. New Hampshire: RSA 207:3-a prohibits discharging a firearm, bow or crossbow within 300 feet of a permanently occupied dwelling without permission of the owner or occupant. Vermont: state law sets no fixed distance, but an owner or occupant may post "Safety Zone, Shooting Prohibited" signs up to 500 feet around an occupied building (10 V.S.A. § 4710). New York: no discharge within 500 feet (firearm), 250 feet (crossbow) or 150 feet (long bow) of a dwelling, occupied farm building, school, playground, public structure, occupied factory or church without consent (ECL § 11-0931(4)). The app's building distances are estimates from public data and may miss structures. Confirm with New Hampshire Fish and Game, Vermont Fish and Wildlife or New York State DEC.

Access disclaimer. Turkey Finder maps terrain, not property rights or legal access. Parking and routes shown are limited to places listed as public in the sources named, which can be wrong or out of date. Public land can still close or restrict hunting, fishing or parking. Always respect private land: Permission may be required to enter private land; get it where the law or the landowner requires it. Observe all federal, state and local laws, posted signs and regulations. You alone are responsible for confirming where you can legally go.

Before your first search, and again before the app shows you spots on private land, the app asks you to accept this disclaimer, and again whenever its wording changes. We keep the date and time you accepted it, and the version you accepted, with your account (or, before you sign in, with this device).

Public land, parking and routes. A spot is marked public only where an official list (a state agency's public or conservation lands, the U.S. Forest Service or Fish and Wildlife Service, a town, or USGS PAD-US) shows public land with public access, labeled "Public per [source], as of [date]." Routes run only over listed public land and public roads and trails, and parking is shown only where a lot is listed as public; otherwise the app says "No listed public parking found." If any part of a route can't be checked, no route is shown. Roads and trails may still be gated, closed, unmaintained or rough. Spots on private land are shown only on Pro, only after you turn them on and accept the access disclaimer, and never with parking, routes, nearest road, directions or Guide me in. Each carries the banner "Private Land. Permission may be required. Respect land owners and local laws regarding accessing any property." We never show landowners' names or contact details. Landowners who would rather their land not be shown can email us and we will remove those spots.
